3. Summary
 LIVE/DEAD Baclight kit를 이용하여 flow cytometry에 대한 새로운 해석을 시도해 보는 연구를 수행하였다. Flow cytometry는 염색된 cell에 대해서 실시간으로 cell counting을 해주는 기계인데, 본 연구에서는 propidium iodide가 bacteria의 nucleic acid와 결합함으로써 염색이 되는 방법인 위의 kit를 이용하였다. 균주는 E.coli를 포함 5가지 이다. 
 본 실험을 살펴보면, LIVE/DEAD 염색이 Gram negative 균주에는 염색이 되었지만, Enterococcus와 같은 Gram positive 균주에는 염색이 되지 않았다. 이는 두 균주의 차이은 cytoplasmic membrane의 유무에 관련된 것으로 사료된다. Gram negative의 경우에는 cytoplasmic membrane이 있어 이중막을 구성하고 있지만, positive에는 존재하지 않는다. 따라서 cytoplasmic membrane에 대한 투과성이 둘을 구분 할 수 있게 해주는 역할을 하는 것으로 보인다. 

4. Originality & creativity
 강에서 샘플링을 한 후에, 항생제 내성을 지닌 미생물을 선별하여 sunlight의 세기에 변화를 주면서 미생물의 사멸을 flow cytometry를 이용하여 직접적으로 확인 해 볼 수 있을 것 같다.
