2. Background of authors
- Van Griensven, Ann : the Free University of Brussel 에서 integrated water quantity and quality modeling of river 의 주제로 박사학위를 받았으며, Senior Lecturer로 UNESCO-IHE에 속해있습니다.

3. Summary
 본 연구는 Hydroinformatic에 관한 연구와 개발이 physically-based 모델 + data driven 모델 + Information and Communication Tools를 통합함으로써 환경 영향에 대한 접근을 중요하게 다룰 수 있음을 보여주고 있습니다. 적용된 분야는 EU water framework directive 관련한 내용을 다루고 있습니다. 
 하천유역에 대하여 SWAT을 적용하였고, 복잡한 diffuse pollution에 대한 과정 또한 포함하고 있습니다. SWAT은 open source 소프트웨어이기 때문에 오염원에 대한 특정 지역에 대한 변형을 가능하게 하고 다른 hydroinformatics 도구와의 연결이 쉽습니다. 전세계적으로 SWAT을 적용하기 위해서는 GIS환경과 모델의 통합인데, 이는 지형에 관한 digital 정보와 토지이용과 관리, 토양 특성과 날씨 정보를 사용함으로써, 빠른 모델 구축을 가능하도록 합니다. 
 모델 calibration, optimization, sensitivity, uncertainty 분석을 위해서, 그리고 보다 나은 이해를
위해서 SWAT과 통합되도록 할 수 있습니다. 
 마지막으로 ecological assessment tool, 토지이용 예측 tool, 최적 실험 고안에 대한 tool과
SWAT의 연결은 SWAT이 복합적인 학문으로써 중요한 역할을 할 수 있음을 보여주고 있습니다. 

4. Originality & Contribution
 SWAT과 다른 model과의 연결을 통해서 보다 다방면에서의 연구를 할 수 있음을 보여주고 있습니다. 이러한 접근은 저희 연구실에서도 시도되어오고 있는 것으로써, 본 논문을 통해서, ecological modeling / integrated landscape modeling / optimal experimental design과의 연결을 고려해볼 수 있을 것 같습니다.
