2. Summary

 The drivers of bloom formation and abundance in rivers are not well understood. Though a lot of researches have been done, its results are controversial because of the different river environments. This paper tries to reduce the uncertainty from the environments by concluding the sites and time as variable.

 Using Bayesian Hierarchical Model(BHM), the concentration of cyanobacteria is regressed by linear regression which has temperature and residence time as a factor. Sites and time variable are included as a form of the parameter of linear regression.

 There are two points from that model simulation results. The first, temperature and residence time are significantly correlated with cyanobacteria abundance as already none. The second, when river is eutrophic, residence time has almost no effects on cyano-abundance. This means nutrient control must precede the residence time control to prevent the algal bloom.

 

 

3. Application to research

 This research find the confounding effect of sites and time variability to cyanobacteria abundance. But the model is not made. So I’d like to write the paper by developing the concepts of this paper.
