2. Summary

This paper introduces why RO is important among the various branches of desalination, and RO market share within desalination market and rationality of technology. It also introduces the basic processes, principles and issues of RO technology and shows the problems faced by RO technology.

The basic principle of RO technology is to permeate water into a polymer-material membrane to remove contaminants to ionic units. Contaminant, fouling, pre-treatment, post-treatment, and system design differ depending on the type of feedwater Seawater and Brackish water. Concentrate disposal, Alternative Energy source, and Cost are also different. The issues of RO technology development are the removal of contaminant Br which is difficult to remove and adverse reproductive, and the removal of membrane fouling.

3. Originality & Creativity

Explaining the difference between Feedwater Seawater and Brackish water was a novel approach. The paper discusses Contaminant, Fouling, Pre-treatment, System design, Post-treatment, Concentrate disposal, Alternative energy sources, and Cost within the different type of Feedwater.
