2.Summary

Pressure-retarded osmosis (PRO) concept is not a recent concept. It has been proposed since the early 20th century. However, it was judged that the possibility of realization was low due to various technical factors.

In this paper, theoretical PRO model was suggested with reverse osmosis (RO) and PRO experiments. By this experiments and literature data economics of PRO, power generation could be derived. The main focuses are capital cost and power generation

3. Application to research

This paper suggested the economics of PRO power generation with experiments. Although it doesn’t consider pretreatment, operation cost, and post-treatment cost, this paper showed the overall history of the improvement of PRO technology
