2. Summary

This study used the 2-dimensional hydrodynamic and water quality model(CE-QUAL-W2) and regression trees to predict chlorophyll-a. The hydrodynamic and water quality model was used to predict water quality such as NH4+, NO3-, and PO43- depending on seasonality. And then the authors used the regression tree to determinate the optimal number of leaves and to apply to obtain a stressor-response model for Chl-a concentrations. In most cases of splits that were made based on the NH4+ concentration, Chl-a concentrations was positively related to NH4+ concentration and positively related to water temperature. Additionally, Chl-a sensitivity to air temperature was conducted using regression tree modeling. This study shows there was a significant linear relationship between air temperature changes and Chl-a concentration changes. Overall, this complex stressor-response modeling can be used to longer-term impacts of climate change on water quality variation.
