2.Summary
To enhance the energy efficiency of PRO process, many kinds of hybridized processes are being studied. Before the hybridized process, SWRO is the most well-known and commercialized process. Because of these reasons, the hybridized process is analyzed by point of SWRO. However, the SWRO process in not sufficient to account for the all hybridized process.
There are two big PRO-hybridized configurations which are SWRO-PRO and SWRO-MD-PRO. Each of processes (SWRO, MD, PRO) have different properties so it is hard to analyze. In this study, a new dimensionless number is suggested which combines the SWRO, MD, PRO’s indexes. Because, the specific energy consumption of SWRO and MD, the specific energy recovery of PRO, have the same unit.
Generally, the best operating condition of SWRO is 50% water recovery. However, in the PRO-MD-PRO process the efficiency goes up following the water recovery rate of SWRO by the Nr/c.
3. Application to research
This study gives me insight to make a new index for other process. Energy consumption and recovery are not only important factor we should concern in the hybridized process. Still lots of new dimensionless number are needed to analyze the hybridized processes.
