3. 논문 요약

이 논문은 daily precipitation을 statistical 방법을 통하여 downscaling 하고자 하는 연구이다. 상세화를 위한 statistical model은 NCEP-NCAR reanalysis 자료를 활용하여 구축하였다. 본 연구에서는 위의 predictor를 대상으로 모델의 상세화 성능을 평가하고 각각의 최적조합에 대해 언급하였다. 적용된 predictor (statistical model의 input variables)의 경우 15개 지점에서 측정된 총 29개의 variables이다. 가장 대표적인 predictor로는 Mid-tropospheric geopotential heights and mid-tropospheric humidity가 있다. 위의 predictor를 활용한 모델의 성능은 near-equatorial 과 tropical location에서 낮은 것으로 나타났는데, 그것은 convective process가 주로 발생하는 지역이었다. 그리고 여름기간 가장 큰 error값을 보였다.

 

4. 논문의 독창성

이 논문은 미래 기후모델로부터 예측된 강우자료를 상세화하기 위하여 29개의 predictor를 활용하고, NCEP-NCAR reanalysis 자료로부터 모델을 구축하였다.

 

5. 논문의 적용 가능성

본 연구에서 제시된 Reanalysis 자료를 활용한 statistical downscaling model 구축 방법은 향후 영산강 유역의 기후자료 상세화 작업에 참고가 될 것으로 판단된다.
